I was recently sent the new style Veil Covercream sample kits to try. I’ve always liked the way Veil have produced inexpensive sample packs. By letting people try sample shades it makes online purchasing less frustrating and more cost effective. Sample packs are especially good for those who are new to skin camouflage or want to update their choice of shade.
The new Veil Covercream sample kits are a great improvement on the previous format and are available in Light, Medium and Dark shade groups. Now in blister packs, the 12 shades and 2 powders are easier to see and get into with a peel-off backing. Each kit also contains a spatula and ‘how to apply’ instructions along with before and after personal stories from users. The sample kits are £7.95 each (Jan 2015) and the purchaser also gets a money off voucher for purchases of full size products. As well as people trying camouflage creams for the first time, the sample kits will help when users get a tan or there are other changes to the skin (such as the maturing of a scar) and a different shade of cream is needed.
With online purchasing being the norm for many customers, it’s good to see that skin tone matching is also being made easier with these sample kits.
As a skin camouflage practitioner, I always recommend that a new camouflage user has a consultation to achieve a good skin tone match, get the application technique right and help with the do’s and dont’s of camouflage. But this isn’t always possible and it’s a fact that many people do not want a consultation, preferring the anonymity of online purchasing.
